Elham Hamrouni is a teacher of primary education and active in the movement of film clubs. She belonged to the cinema club in Gabes and is a member of the Tunisian Film Clubs federation, which was founded between 1949 and 1950.
She also participated in the re-establishment of this club in the last two thousand years before it was elected in the plan of the general secretary of the federation.
Elham Hamrouni was also known for her legal and political activities. On November 11, 1992, she was arrested from the teaching department for belonging to the Tunisian Communist Workers’ Party and distributing leaflets. This arrest was internationally acclaimed as “pregnant women prisoners” As she was pregnant with her daughter, just like one of her companions.
Ilham Hamrouni participated and participates in the intellectual and cultural activities and the establishment of cultural events (the short film festival in Gabes) at the national level, especially in the city of Gabes.
